Hair Trauma

So, I just cut a considerable amount of my hair. And by considerable I mean- I used to be able to put my hair in a considerable pony-tail and now I have no hair to put into a pony-o. EEEKKKKK.

I'm still not sure how I feel about it. I like it...I think.
I do this all the time...Grow my hair out, get sick of it, cut it short, hate it and grow it long. It's probably something I've been doing since early high school. I can never figure out how I like it. And i liked my hair 5 hours ago, I just felt like...what the hell---I'll change it. And so, I changed it. A LOT.

(confessional moment: Part of the reason I always want my hair long is because if/when I get married, I want to have long hair at my wedding. But...that if/when doesn't even exist at this moment, so I cut it. And it can always be grown out, right?...?)

It's a good cut and it frames my face better than my last cut. It also makes me look older (in the good way) and like I can legally drive a car and buy a drink. I often get mistaken for a 16 year old, so this is probably a good development.

it's just a wee shorter than I was expecting.
It's just going to take some getting used to. But hell---it's hair and if I don't like it in a few days, it'll grow. Right?

If I could figure out how to take a picture of myself without looking like a 16 year old emo punk--I would post a before and after...but any "self portrait" looks ridiculously childish.

So, just send some positive reinforcement my way and pretend I post before and afters and after looks better?

(On another and less selfish note- Isn't it odd how much we define ourselves by our hair?)

I'm sure it looks great! I love cutting my hair after growing it out for awhile, I feel better, different but better. My hair was short when I got engaged, too long for my wedding and now its short again. Can't wait to see pics!

It is VERY odd how we define ourself by our hair. I hate it...sometimes I think that we would all have a lot more self confidence if we were all bald!

I am sure your new hair looks great!! I bet Lauren is doing a happy dance!

I'm sure you'll feel better about it soon - it will just take some getting used to.

I am blonde, always have been, but a couple of months ago I dyed my hair brown... WHAT A SHOCK!! It took me a while to get used to it, but now I love it!

I am so glad you found my blog! It seems like we have a lot in common! Esp the wedding itch! However, sometimes (not often) I get the baby itch and I am not even engaged and who knows when it will EVER happen :-)
If you met the boy, you would totally understand. Sometimes I dont think he gets it!
Also, I bet your hair looks fabulous! I cut mine real short last summer. Everyone loved it, but now I am growing it out!

I do this too! I can never be quite happy with my hair. I think we, as in women, have some issues! :)

I don't think anyone ever likes their hair right after they get it cut! I'm sure it looks great!!! It always grows.
We do define ourselves by our hair for real, though. This past summer I got a less than perfect haircut and I spent the night crying at my mom's house about how "I had always had my hair if nothing else..." Ha! Now I'm totally over it. But I felt really pathetic and shallow when I thought about it.

I ALWAYS DO THIS! I have ridiculously long hair (not white-trash long, but close), and I always cut it into a bob that is way too short and everyone hates it so I grow it again - i just get ansy for a change, and I have never dyed my hair because my skin coloring and hair color combo is the best thing I have going for me... Phew! I am rushing because I am at work but I just can't believe you do that too. Here's to extremes! PS I am sure it looks great - it takes a couple of weeks for hair to "settle" and for your eyes to get used to it. :)

I do the same thing after I cute my hair! I stress and freak out a bit! Mine is staying long till I get married, then I'll have some fun with it...two years more. When I actually think of how far away it is it makes me want to cut it now!
